Molasses Crinkle Cookies
Add these simple cookies to your holiday baking lineup. They are quick to make and turn out just right every time!
- 4-1/2 cups flour
- 4 tsp. baking soda
- 2 tsp. ground ginger
- 2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp. ground cloves
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 cups packed brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1-1/2 cups, plus 2 T. cooking oil (canola is best)
- 1/2 cup molasses
Stir together flour, baking soda, spices, and salt. Set aside. Beat well: brown sugar, eggs, oil, and molasses. Add flour mixture and mix together. Chill dough for 30 minutes or longer. Roll into balls (about 1″), and roll in sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet, and flatten slightly with the palm of your hand. Bake for 10 minutes at 350 degrees. Cookies will be very light brown. Let sit for 10 more minutes on cookie sheet on a wire rack. Remove to rack to cool completely.
I break the rules of baking with these cookies & throw all the ingredients together before mixing (shhhh…but it works…). These cookies stack well for gifting; wrap a stack in plastic wrap and tie the stack with a ribbon. Make sure to save a few to enjoy for yourself!
