When a Door Closes…
A year ago today, I got the final NO on the cutest little building in town that I wanted to lease for our Ranch Goods store.
The fall of 2020 had me thinking about the possibility of opening an actual storefront for Rocking Bar H. A store seemed like the next logical step in serving local customers best and would be the solution to other logistical issues I had. When the perfect little building came available in October, I felt like God was giving me the green light.
The location was perfect, the price was right…so I brought Keith along to check the place out and try to sell him on my idea. Over the next 10 weeks, a number of roadblocks slowed progress, ending with the last NO in January 2021.
There’s such a deflated feeling inside when the things we have our heart set on doesn’t happen.
Did I work hard enough? Did God want that for me and did I just fail and let Him down?
The answer is no!
He knew what our coming year would look like.
He knew about the Montana venture that was just around the corner (even though we didn’t).
He knew our attention would be needed for what was to come.
The doors that God shuts are just as important as the ones He opens.
Today, if you’re feeling discouraged over what didn’t work out, just know that your future self will look back and understand why it was best for you.
Our Heavenly Father is good, His plan for us is good, and we can fully trust that.
