Wegener’s & Living With Hope
The exact month Keith was diagnosed with Wegener’s Granulomatosis (March 2011), the FDA released its first approved treatment drug for the disease.
Yesterday, he spent 6 hours getting an infusion; his first in almost two years.
While Keith doesn’t say much about his battle with Wegener’s, I do, because there wasn’t much encouragement to be found at the time of his diagnosis. What I did find told me that if he lived, his quality of life would be poor.
Eight years later, life is pretty darn great for Keith, and if even one person affected by the disease reads what I say, it was worth it.
PEOPLE NEED HOPE.
Of all the good things people know Keith for, I especially admire his courage…
This guy doesn’t spend time dwelling, wondering, worrying. And I think that kind of sincere courage comes from completely trusting God’s hand in your life. Trusting that even if things don’t go your way, He is good and He will care for you.
I’m so thankful our boys have watched a dad with that fearless attitude as they’ve grown, and I hope it is the same type of courage they will lead their own families with someday.

“Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.” -Isaiah 41:10
“Be strong, & let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the Lord!” -Psalm 31:24
